Two strikers in, two strikers out at Blues?

It is the one thing that every Birmingham City fans is waiting for this summer…a striker to officially put pen to paper on a move to the club, whether that be on loan or on a permanent deal.

However, I believe that if Gary Rowett does bring a striker into the club, he may let one of our current three leave, the same applies for if two come in, two may head out the exit door.

The two names that I understand to be of genuine interest to Blues are James Wilson and Nelson Oliveira. Both players are thought to be being considered for season-long loan moves which could work out well for the club, but in my opinion, we need to bring a player in who will become our own (so on a permanent deal), or somebody who will sign at the end of the loan deal.

Manchester United striker Wilson sounds the likelier of the two players to sign on a loan deal, without the view to a permanent move to the club at the end of the season, but after trying the Sky Bet Championship out last campaign with Brighton and Hove Albion, I think he would be a real threat under the guidance of Rowett.

Should the move get over the line, which I think it will, although it may not happen as quickly as we would like, I think that could see Nicolai Brock-Madsen head out on loan, perhaps till January just to gain some first team experience.

Personally, I think it would be a good idea to send the Danish striker to a League One or League Two club because he just won’t get the minutes he needs at Blues next season and I think some time away from the club would really help him develop as a player.

Moving back to the other player coming in, as I understand it, the former Nottingham Forest loanee Oliveira would be the preferred choice out of the two strikers that have been linked, but Blues are just assessing their other options before making a final decision on whether to sign him or not.

Like Wilson, I believe any move for the Portuguese striker would be a loan move, but there might be the potential to bring him in on a permanent deal once the initial loan deal has expired.

Similar to Wilson, I think bringing Oliveira in would be a good move by the club because he brings a bit of tenacity to the front line, but is he really going to improve what we already have? To me, I think he is about the same quality as what we already have and I can see the deal turning out to be a bit like the Kyle Lafferty one unfortunately.

However, if Oliveira was brought in by Blues boss Rowett then I think we could see the departure of James Vaughan as he would slip further down the pecking order and that would displease him even more.

Again, as I understand it, the ball is currently in Vaughan’s side of the caught. If he want’s to move, I don’t think Rowett will stand in his way, but if he wants to stay with Blues then I think Rowett will continue to push him to achieve his best.

Out of the two strikers that have been linked, I would personally prefer Wilson to come in on loan as he seems hungrier than Oliveira and he looks ready to prove a point in this division but only time will tell.

Blues fans, out of the two strikers linked, which one would you like to see join the club before the end of the season? Let us know in the comment section down below!
