Birmingham City are ready to offer a contract to Sebastien Bassong, following a successful trial with the club.

The centre-back has been without a club since leaving Norwich at the end of last season and Harry Redknapp is keen to bring the player in on a permanent basis.

The pair know each other well after working together at Tottenham Hotspur, so a move to take 31-year-old Bassong to St. Andrew’s would make sense for all parties.

Blues could do with an extra centre-half as back up to the likes of Michael Morrison, Marc Roberts and Harlee Dean – as a player with both Premier League and Championship experience, Bassong certainly fits the bill.
