‘Too many mistakes’, ‘fantastic saves’ – Blues fans undecided on 35-year-old

|

Goalkeeper Lee Camp has come under huge scrutiny recently, going through some inconsistent form and making errors which have cost the Blues some points along the way.

City will have hoped to have turned the corner with last week’s win over Middlesbrough ending a disappointing run, but Camp’s position in the side remains a divisive topic amongst supporters of the club.

The 35-year-old is an experienced performer though, especially at Championship level, and told BirminghamLive it’s nothing he hasn’t experienced previously, and he’s hoping it’s just a difficult spell he can push through – as he has done many times throughout his career.

That being said, supporters are very undecided on Camp’s position in the side. Some feel he deserves patience to return to form, while others believe he’s had enough chances and is costing his side with repeated regularity now.

With youngsters Connal Trueman (currently injured) and Jake Weaver on the Blues books, many fans believe Camp – along with his understudy, 34-year-old David Stockdale – should be moving aside sooner or later anyway, and allowing new blood to take the club forward. Here’s what Blues fans on Twitter have had to say on the subject:

Some fans ridiculed the City number one and hoped his contract won’t be getting renewed in the future.

While other Blues fans were in support of Camp, stating confidence is a big factor and that the goalkeeper had earned City more points than he’d cost them since his arrival.
