Three more signings coming in, but who?

Three is often classed as the magic number and for all we know, that could be the case in terms of new faces coming through the door at St.Andrews over the course of the next seven to eight weeks.

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has made it clear recently that he is still in the market for players, with a striker being the main target, but there is likely to be some movement in other departments that need strengthening.

One of those places in the squad is obviously full back, predominantly left back, hence the recent arrival of Dwight Tiendalli on a short term trial. Like the former Swansea City man, another link came out of the blue yesterday afternoon when the Birmingham Mail linked the club with a move for former Aston Villa defender Kieran Richardson, somebody who potentially wouldn’t be met with the biggest smile ever from fans.

I have to say, out of the two players who have been linked with us for the full back spot to give both Jonathan Grounds and Paul Caddis some competition, I would prefer Tiendalli to come in because from what I have seen and heard about from the training sessions that are currently happening in Marbella, Spain, the 30-year-old defender is impressing the management.

The Dutch defender can play at both left and right back which is obviously a massive draw to the management and I just think that unless something goes horrendously wrong, Tiendalli will be a Birmingham City player before the end of July.

So that’s the first of the three signings ticked off. Here comes the tricky part though…does Rowett go for a winger and a striker or two strikers?

Personally, I think the Blues boss will swing in favour of signing a winger and a striker because that will give him a little more depth in the squad compared to what he already has. With three first team strikers to chose from and three first team wingers at his disposal as well, adding one player to sector of those departments seems very logical.

Who are those players I hear you asking? Well, I can’t pin point them at the moment like I did with Tiendalli, but I have a rough idea of who we might see sign for the club before the close of the window.

The winger is possibly the trickiest one to nail down because anyone can play out wide nowadays can’t they! Clayton Donaldson and David Davis played there last season so who knows, but as a rough guess, I would say it could be the man everyone has been speculating about and that is Sone Aluko.

Nigerian-born Aluko is currently a free agent after being released by the newly promoted Hull City, and at 27, he seems to be the perfect candidate to fit the bill for the club. The former Blues academy player can play out wide and up front which would kill two birds with one stone as it would mean that we would be able to play him in two different positions if we needed to but I think he would sign predominantly as a winger.

Moving onto the forward position, again this is a difficult one to accurately guess because there have been so many names linked with the club but with talk of Tom Bradshaw in the air, it is hard to ignore the fact that Walsall have let a lot of their top end players go already this summer, so could the Welshman be the next player to leave the Banks’ stadium? I think so!

Another name that has been thrown around over the past two weeks in James Wilson of Manchester United. Don’t get me wrong, it would be fantastic to have him at the club because he has the pedigree to become a top class striker, but out of the two striking options mentioned, I would still choose Bradshaw because he would be our player.

Blues fans, do you agree that Dwight Tiendalli, Sone Aluko and Tom Bradshaw will be the three players to sign for the club before the closing of the transfer window? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
