The super seven of January! Option No.7

Over the past week I have highlighted six players that I think could make a difference to the squad that Gary Rowett has at this moment in time and I am now at that stage of the week where I need to pick the last player.

The main question is, should I dive into the lower leagues like I have done or should I return to the Premier League and for me I just had to pick somebody from the top tier of English football.

Birmingham City fans will remember him from Saturday’s 2-1 loss against AFC Bournemouth because he was a real catalyst in their play going forward. The man I am talking about is Marc Pugh.

The 28 year old midfielder is quite fond of playing at St.Andrews having scored a hattrick against us last season when the Cherries beat us 8-0 and I really think he could be a very good addition for Rowett.

Pugh will be like some of the other deals I have mentioned because it will most likely never happen but with the midfielder having only made 14 appearances in all competitions this season for Eddie Howe’s team, what’s to stop him potentially coming out on loan for the rest of the season.

The Burnley trainee joined Bournemouth in June 2010 and since then he has gone on to make nearly 200 appearances for the Cherries and I know it would take a lot of persuading to prize him away from them but it doesn’t mean that we can’t try.

I would love to see someone with the pedigree that Pugh has come in and I am pretty sure Rowett would as well but he really has to search the market and personally I think the Cherries playmaker may have caught his eye this weekend.

Blues fans, would you like to see the club make an ambitious swoop for Marc Pugh? Would he be a good addition to Gary Rowett’s squad? Let us know in the comment section down below!
