Blues manager Gary Rowett is caught in two minds over Charlee Adams. The young midfielder was earmarked for a loan move this season but his performances at the end of last season have cast a doubt upon the manager’s thinking.

Rowett praised Adams` mature displays and is now considering keeping him at the club to try and fight his way into the first team. The 21 year-old was thrust into the team on the final day against Cardiff City. His partnership alongside Maikel Kieftenbeld was solid and helped guide Blues to a 1-1 draw.

Adams is aware he isn`t the first choice central midfielder at St. Andrew`s, but knows he is highly rated by the management team.

Several League One and Two clubs have expressed an interest but have been stalled by Rowett`s reluctance to make a decision until his team have fully settled in for pre-season training.

Signing Robert Tesche has put Adams back to fifth choice in his position but with Rowett often starting with three, he could find his chances increase given time – and of course, injuries and suspensions always occur.

Adams is thought to be keen on continuing his development at Blues rather than on loan.
