Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp has set his sights on another Aberdeen midfielder after missing out on winger Jonny Hayes.
It is thought that the Blues boss is keen on signing Kenny McLean from the Dons after the 25-year-old impressed last campaign.
He scored four goals in 39 league appearances, helping Aberdeen to a second placed finish which once again secured them European football.
McLean is a central player with a cultured left foot and an eye for goal which caught the eye of Redknapp when he went to watch him play in the Scottish Cup final at the end of last season.
A number of Championship clubs are also said to be in the hunt for the player.
