Put Dan Talk on the Burner

Dan Burn`s release from Fulham means, predictably, he is linked with a move to Blues. Reading various comments on social media and speaking to a handful of Blues fans, the general consensus is ‘I`d take him`. But I heavily disagree.

While Burn wasn`t bad during his loan spell from Fulham during the 2013-14 season, he wasn`t really a stand out performer. And let`s not forget how bad Blues were back then under Lee Clark.

Too many times, Burn`s trademark long diagonal hoof went astray. Too many times he was done for pace. And too many times he was outmuscled and out thought by the opposition striker.

The six-foot-seven defender did ok at Blues for the standard we were at. But we`ve moved on under Gary Rowett. Compare Burn to Michael Morrison? you can`t. There is no comparison to be drawn.

Some Blues fans will argue and say I`m wrong. But this is the same Dan Burn who has been released from a club who finished 20th in the Championship and conceded 79 goals. Frankly, if you`re not deemed good enough for a struggling side who let`s more balls into their net than Katie Price, you`re not good enough for Blues.

Alongside Morrison, Blues need someone dynamic and athletic – two attributes not associated with Burn.
