Opinion: This is the One, Surely?!

My pre-match pint always tastes of hope and expectation. Huddersfield Town sit in the Championship`s bottom three. You`d say it`s a game Blues should win, but we all know what happens when this sort of side rocks up at St. Andrew`s.

Never mind your Reading`s, Derby`s and QPR`s, it`s the struggling sides who cause Blues all the problems. It`s only a matter of time before a manager says, live on air- “I know we`re struggling and have had a few bad results, but we go to Birmingham City next week, so we`ll definitely win that”.

I hope the first part of this article turns out to be complete bull shit of course. Gary Rowett remains positive that the run of results in B9 can be improved so who am I to belittle his comments?

Blues will have to make do without the injured Clayton Donaldson again and his replacement, James Vaughan, is ineligible to play against his parent club. So who could be back-up to Nicolai Brock-Madsen? You never would have guessed it?Greg Halford.

If Donaldson`s injury wasn`t bad enough, I put my hands over my face when I read that Rowett may consider using Halford as a striker if ‘the need arises`. I`ve given Halfords some stick since he signed for Blues after being deemed not good enough for Rotherham. But let`s be fair to him?until he kicks a ball at least.

Tomorrow, I pray for the best but fear the worst. If Blues can take the game by the scruff of the neck and score the first goal when they`re on top, three points should be in the bag. But how many times have we said that before? Hopefully, my post-match pint won`t taste sour.
