Only at Blues

2006 was to be the Blues year. It was the 50th anniversary of Blues last appearance in an F.A. Cup Final and as Chelsea had won the league exactly 50 years after their only previous win it seemed reasonable that Blues could mark the half century mark in similar fashion. What happened? We got relegated.

Blues had put together their best ever squad certainly since 1956. How we were looking forward to seeing the top class signings such as Melchiot, Dunn, Izzet, Cunningham, Forssell, Upson, Jarosik, and Maik Taylor as they each battled their way to World Cup 2006 in the colours of Birmingham City. In the end only Jarosik will be at the World cup and no longer will represent Blues. They all spent the majority of their time on the treatment table. What happened ? We got relegated.

Blues for the first time reached the quarter finals of both Cups and were unfortunate to meet the winners, (probably). At that stage neither opposition had beaten Blues and with a home draw in each something had to give. What happened ? We hardly got eleven players out on the pitch and were annihilated in both. Oh and we got relegated.

We have the richest board of directors in the League, we cleared a profit for the third year running. Only Manchester United are more profitable than Blues. The board promised to spare no expense to save us from the drop. What happened? We got relegated.

The Premiership was at its weakest since its inception and although injuries meant we played a second string side for 95% of our games surely not to find three teams to finish below us out of Sunderland, Albion, Portsmouth, Fulham, Villa, Middlesbrough was impossible? What happened? We got relegated.

As the season went by and we got stuck in the bottom three every pundit said that we would be the one’s to get out of trouble. ‘ Too many good players’ was the common consensus. What happened? We got relegated.

Only at Blues could such a positive set of circumstances be turned into such a disaster.

3000 fans travel to Bolton tomorrow. What team they will see one can only wonder at? With so many on their way out we are told why should they try of even play tommorow? We can at last be sure of one thing after 90 minutes We will be Relegated.
