No Offers For Upson

Despite the players and clubs best attempts, apparently nobody is interested in Matthew Upson as of yet.

‘I must have read that Upson is going to 12 different clubs but I have not had a single phone call from a manager and neither has Karren.

‘If he’s worth £6m now he’s worth £6m in the summer and we won’t be selling Matt Upson on the cheap.

‘Clubs usually have their big budgets in the summer, but if somebody like Chelsea came and offered us £10 million quid tomorrow, we all know what the score is.

‘I also think that most big clubs will look at Matt’s situation and see that he’s just recovered from his injury and I’m sure they’ll be monitoring his progress over the next two or three months to make sure he is 100 per cent fit if they are going to spend big money on him.’

In the case of David Dunn, the club have had a tentative approach but as yet no firm offer has been lodged for the talented, albeited normally injured midfielder.

‘He is fit now so it might be in our best interests to get a few quid and spend that on somebody else.

‘As long as we get the money we want for him it will be amicable, but we’ve had no serious offers for him.

‘I wouldn’t say he’s kicked his last ball for the club, but he is available.

‘If he’s doesn’t go anywhere in the next three weeks then we may as well keep him.

‘We’ve paid him for the last two and a half years so we may as well pay him for another three or four months!

‘And if he gets fit and nobody comes in we’ve got a two year option.’

Dunn is a frustration, if he could remain fit I’m sure like most fans we’d protest at the idea of selling him, but paying his wages on recovery so often has obviously become too much to bare for all concerned.

If anyone fancies a laugh aswell, apparently we are signing Stern John back from Coventry for £75,000 aswell.

Not as strange a link as it sounds, although I’m a firm believer in never going back, John could do a job for us in the short term again.
