The official site have announced the departure of Blues general manager John Benson.

Bruce brought the much travelled (Bournemouth, Manchester City, Wigan Athletic and Burnley) member of staff to St Andrews when he joined in December 2001.

The official site says: Benson has played an integral role behind the scenes at the Wast Hills training ground looking after the majority of the office duties allowing Bruce and his coaches to concentrate on the coaching side. Adding that he also went on many scouting missions.

Benson has left due to the pressure of the daily 200-mile round trip to and from Macclesfield. Seems he no longer enjoys sitting on England’s gridlocked motorways.
