No Incoming Players at Birmingham

Birmingham City won’t be adding to their squad on transfer deadline day after a source from the club confirmed that it looks like that is it for the night.

The club had been in talks with several targets throughout the day but it appears Rowett does not want to bring anyone in that he doesn’t really want.

Lewis McGugan was a target according to Tom Ross, he opted to sign for Sheffield Wednesday instead.

With that said, it leaves Blues with two deals so far this window. Lloyd Dyer signed on loan until the end of the season and Michael Morrison signed permanently from Charlton after a successful loan spell.

The main positive coming out of today is that it appears the price tag Blues placed on Demarai Gray was enough to fend of interest from Championship leaders Bournemouth.

With the loan window due to open in a weeks time, it will probably be a more suitable time for a club like Blues to bring in another fresh face.

January deadline day is often over hyped and clubs want cash for their players. There are probably some loan deals that won’t be done today as their club may be wanting to cash in instead, if they can.

Has this been a good window for Birmingham? at the time of writing this … a resounding yes.

Dyer provides pace and power in attack. He gets down the field very quickly, an attribute that suits Gary Rowett down to the ground as he wants to exploit teams that attack Birmingham.

Michael Morrison may not seem like a new signing but he sure is worth a mention. A sturdy ever present who is a verbal leader, probably destined to take the arm band next.

And it turns out that no one is willing to pay over £5 miillion for a young Demarai Gray, who has made just 25 appearances in his break through season. But there is of course still time.

Staff at the club seem pretty confident that he isn’t going anywhere.

In summary, Blues are probably going to play the loan game. Most likely another body in midfield if it is possible and a defender should Morrison’s injury keep him beyond a few weeks.
