Birmingham City have tied up a new deal with David Murphy by activating a two year option written into his current deal.

28 year old Murphy had just come to the end of his old contract and could have left the club on a free transfer, but Blues rewarded him with a further two years after turning out to be one of the better players in the squad last season.

Within days the club could have the signatures of Stephen Carr and Colin Doyle on new contracts as talks are ‘ongoing` say Blues.

oung Jake Jervis is also on the receiving end of a new 12 month contract.

But it`s not such good news for Calab Folan, Cian Hughton, Enric Valles, Ashley Sammons and Luke Hubbins, they have all been released.
