Mail On Sunday Apology

The Mail On Sunday have issued the following statement apologising to Bryan Robson and Steve Bruce for illegal payment allegations.

The statement was carried on the official site and is reproduced here.

‘The Mail On Sunday issued the following apology on Sunday December 17 with regards to a story they ran earlier this year about Blues boss Steve Bruce…

‘On September 24, 2006 we suggested that Bryan Robson and Steve Bruce may have been implicated in corruption within football and may have accepted illegal payments.

‘We wish to make clear that any such suggestion is entirely without foundation. Mr Robson and Mr Bruce have always carried out their duties as managers with the utmost integrity and honesty. We apologise to them for the distress and embarrassment caused by the article.’

As far as I can see, neither the club nor Steve have commented further in light of this apology and retraction.
