David Lucas becomes another keeper on Birmingham`s books after he was taken on by manager Lee Clark.

34 year old Lucas has spent time with Rochdale, Leeds, Sheff Weds, Swindon and Barnsley.

He has joined Blues on a one year deal after leaving Spotland at the end of last season where he was goalkeeper and coach.

Not so sure that we wouldn`t have been better off with somebody a tad younger, but the boss seems pleased to have him on board.

He told the club`s official website ‘I’m delighted to welcome David to the club and he will now compete with Jack and Colin for the number one spot.

‘It’s very important for us to always have three senior goalkeepers to call upon because, for example, we could find ourselves without Jack Butland for the Capital One Cup tie against Barnet due to international duty.’
