Loan Watch

A lot of emphasis in recent years has been put onto developing the youth at Birmingham City. Loans are a great way to give younger players more experience and coaching.

The first loanee was Koby Arthur. An exciting prospect who has played in both the senior and youth set up at Birmingham City.

As the official club site informs; ‘Koby Arthur notched his fourth goal for Cheltenham Town last week.’

This is good news, as it means frequent game time for Arthur. It’s about developing as a player at this stage, and pitch time is certainly a good way of doing that.

The official site then adds, ‘He was then in action again at the weekend after he was introduced as a 78th minute substitute.’
Considering the Robins are currently second in their league, a loan to an ambitious club will allow Arthur to gain confidence.

BCFC.com stated that, ‘Teenage midfielder Reece Brown played his second match for Notts County. Brown completed the full game for the Magpies.’

Having played a few friendlies for the first team this year, Brown has good experience but needs to play week in week out for Notts County if the loan is to be successful. However, he is young, so a watchful eye should be kept on him by the Magpie gaffer to ensure he doesn’t burn out. A talented midfielder, who I think will certainly impress at this level.

‘Elsewhere, it was disappointing weekend for Nick Townsend as he saw…Lincoln City suffer a 3-1 defeat away at Woking.’

As a young goalkeeper, the training is actually more essential than matches in my opinion. As they develop in terms of skill and confidence, then matches are imperative. This is due to the fact that they need skill in order to make decisions.

‘Finally, Reece Webb was given his debut by Brackley Town.
The midfielder was sent on as a 76th minute substitute for Dwayne Samuels.’

Despite the loss, Reece did well upon coming on. A young lad who needs to gain in muscle plus awareness. Not as naturally talented as the others, but a good up and coming player nonetheless.
