Key player Vs. Bristol City

We’re almost there. Just one round of fixtures remain of this Championship season and it’s a big one for Blues as they travel to Bristol City on Sunday with survival still to be secured.

You can go through all the permutations you want but Blues have to focus on winning the game, nothing less. If they do that, then Championship football is guaranteed next season.

It would be silly of me to pick an individual key player due to the magnitude of the game so it’s going to have to be a real team effort from Blues if they are to get that win.

We`ll all be checking our phones for the results of Blackburn and Nottingham Forest but the players have to get on with their game and not rely on anyone else.

If we see the same solid, committed performance we saw against Huddersfield last week, then Blues will give themselves a great chance of winning the game and ensuring survival.

It remains to be seen what team Lee Johnson puts out against us but it shouldn`t matter for us. It should be approached in the way that we need to give everything for the shirt and leave it all out on that Ashton Gate pitch.

After a long, torrid season it’s all boiling down to this. For the second time in four seasons Blues have one game to save themselves.

This time, though, it’s in our hands. We know what we’ve got to do and we know that those precious three points will be enough.

Anything less and Blues will be in serious danger if Forest and Blackburn win their respective games. It’s a big if but anything can happen in football.

The three teams in danger of relegation will all be fighting till the end and it will be a tense, nervy afternoon on Sunday but Blues under Harry Redknapp have that bit extra.

Whether or not they can execute the performance that will save us, only time will tell. But we know what we’ve got to do and it’s time for the players to make up for the last few months and save this club from what was the unthinkable not too long ago.
