Birmingham City are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Cheick Keita in the one nil victory over Fulham at the weekend at St Andrew’s Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Keita was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Gianfranco Zola is off the mark, earning his first three-point haul as Birmingham manager at the 11th time of asking. One of the men to thank for breaking his duck was Keita, who was outstanding down the left-hand side and whose low cross was turned home by Lukas Jutkiewicz.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Keita for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

James McKeown (Grimsby Town), Cheick Keita (Birmingham City), Jake Cooper (Millwall), Peter Clarke (Oldham Athletic), Michael Hefele (Huddersfield Town), Mitchell Dijks (Norwich City), David Vaughan (Nottingham Forest), John Fleck (Sheffield United), David Wheeler (Exeter City), Tom Lawrence (Ipswich Town), Matty Godden (Stevenage).

Manager – Phil Brown (Southend United).
