Birmingham City manager Steve Cotterill remains keen to sign Chelsea youngster Kasey Palmer on loan today but interest in the player has been growing from elsewhere.

Last week, Cotterill was ‘hopeful’ that the deal was close. However, after the club started dragging their feet with a firm eye on Financial Fair Play regulations, Cotterill assumed the deal was dead in the water – hence his comments in the media.

Yet a potential loan deal could still be struck for the 21 year-old after CotterilL was informed of ‘minimal’ funds available. Sheffield Wednesday are also reportedly interested.

Palmer helped Huddersfield achieve promotion last season during a loan spell over two campaigns in which he appeared 29 times, scoring four goals for The Terriers.

Chelsea are determined to find Palmer a temporary home before the window slams shut at 11pm this evening.
