International Break Boost for Blues

As we enter the international break, we have to wonder whether it is coming at a bad or good time for Gary Rowett and his staff.

Blues are certainly enjoying their football at the moment and they will now not get the chance to play until the 22nd of November. This could be a significant slow down in the run of games.

Any in form team will testify that when things are going well they like the games to come thick and fast, whilst they are on a high.

With such a long spell between now and the next game, the team will have to sit tight and some will be away on international duty. Player’s like David Edgar have long travelling schedules ahead of them.

It also presents the next opposition, Rotherham, with an extended time to try and scout out Blues and set up a game plan for their visit to The New York Stadium.

On the flip side of this, Rowett now has his first uninterrupted chance to work with the team. He has already worked wonders with the players in his opening three games.

With two weeks to work with the players on the training ground, there is no telling, just yet anyway, what added bonus it could have on the players.

Rowett is a training ground manager, he said it himself before taking the job. The most important part of his job, in his own opinion, is on the training ground.

So based on his own perception of these breaks, it seems like any international break is going to benefit Birmingham. I would put it partly down to Rowett’s attention to detail and his clear way of working with the players.

Can we dare to expect more from the players after the break? maybe we can, it is possible that Birmingham are edging towards a competing football club again.
