Nabil Bentaleb is enjoying a regular run in the Tottenham team under new boss Tim Sherwood, including last time out beating Swansea 2-1.

Could it have been all a bit different though? Having been released by Lille and then Mouscrob, Bentaled spent time on loan at Birmingham City. He failed to agree contractual terms with the club, as the club would not stretch to beat his demands.

Now 19, Nabil Bentaleb is the subject of a selection headache, with France and Algeria already planning on call ups, England are also enquiring over his interest to play for them. If Bentaleb resists the temptation of international competition for another two years he is eligible to wear the three lions in just two years.

Tim Sherwood is unsure whether his player will opt for France as they are apparently not showing him ‘much love`. This is a statement I can only interpret as they have not been in contact with the player when other nations have.

It`s always difficult to assess whether the club should have stretched to meet this young mans demands. At the time he was probably not enough to convince the club to commit that extra money to his contract.

If he was only requesting slightly more money, I imagine some people involved with that decision are regretting it now.
