Wolves scored three first-half goals which proved to be enough to stave off a second half fight back by Birmingham in this Midlands Derby.

Stephen Hunt was on hand to put the visitors ahead after Jack Butland could only push away a shot and then Sylvan Ebanks-Blake made it 2-0 with a close range header.

Ebanks-Blake added the third for Wolves from the penalty spot and by the time the half time whistle went, you could have been forgiven for thinking it was all over for Blues.

But Birmingham, who are eight points away from the play-offs, hit back in the second half with a penalty after Wes Thomas was shoved to the ground, Wade Elliott took the kick and reduced the deficit.

Then with the game nearing an end, Blues were awarded another penalty, but this time Elliott’s spot kick was saved but he fired home the rebound.

But Wolves hung on to record their first double over City in 14 years.
