Birmingham City are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Birmingham City in the one nil victory over Cardiff City at the weekend at St Andrew’s Stadium was enough to earn Cotterill a place as manager of the most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Cotterill was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘It was a Friday of firsts for Steve Cotterill, as he guided Birmingham City to their first victory under him, in his maiden match in charge of the club. Che Adams` strike, 19 minutes in, proved the eventual difference against Cardiff City, who were the Sky Bet Championship league leaders going into the game.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Cotterill for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Dan Bentley (Brentford), Leandro Bacuna (Reading), Ben Richards-Everton (Accrington Stanley), Chris Basham (Sheffield United), Matty Taylor (Swindon Town), Diogo Jota (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Luke Berry (Luton Town), Sammy Ameobi (Bolton Wanderers), Oliver Hawkins (Portsmouth), Tom Pope (Port Vale), Padraig Amond (Newport County).

Manager – Steve Cotterill (Birmingham City).
