Tom Adeyemi is close to agreeing a season-long loan move to Leeds United after being told he is surplus to requirements by Cardiff manager Russell Slade.

The former Blues vice-captain riled fans by jumping ship to Cardiff City in August, just days after being handed the captaincy by then-manager Lee Clark.

But since his £1m move to the Welsh capital, Adeyemi has found himself a bit-part player and has been told he is not part of Slade`s plans.

The fate of the 23 year-old will come with little sympathy from Blues fans who lambasted his decision to leave St. Andrew`s.

It wasn`t the fact Adeyemi wanted to move that upset the Blues faithful, it was his tendency to play the loyalty card before sniffing out a move to a club supposedly challenging for a place in the automatic promotion places. As it turned out, Blues finished one place and one point ahead of Cardiff.

Adeyemi, who was replaced with David Davis after he signed for a reported £100,000 from Wolves, was booed by Blues fans as he warmed up from the substitute`s bench during the goalless draw with Cardiff back in November.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds manager Uwe Rosler has the option to sign Adeyemi permanently next summer.
