Birmingham’s attempts to convince the FA that the red card Bowyer suffered against Preston during blues last home game last season has run its course has failed.

Bowyer went back to West ham where they then played the remaining of their premier league games, but the FA ruling is that he must miss three Birmingham City domestic fixtures. So they are saying he was eligible for West Ham at the backend of last year.

All of his boils down to Bowyer missing the trip to Old Trafford on Sunday, and the start to the home stint on Tuesday night. Despite the outbreak in the Preston game, Lee managed to keep his head during his successful spell with blues and played a pivotal role in promotion, silencing boos and doubters the experienced mid opened his scoring account on his debut against Cardiff to salvage a point for the blues.

Birmingham are now proceeding with an application to change the rules on suspension in relation to loan spells.
