Bournemouth have explained that the only time they will talk about a transfer deal is when it is done. On their official website.

Their chief executive Neill Blake has refused to comment after two bids were rejected by Birmingham for Demarai Gray.

There are several reasons for this. They won’t want to alert other clubs to Gray, they also won’t want other clubs to see what they are bidding for this player in case they end up opting for someone else. The other clubs will straight away expect a certain price.

However, it works in Birmingham’s favor to publicly reject bids for their players, and the fee makes it all the more clearer – not for sale.

So unfortunately for Bournemouth, I think there will be a discussion of each bid in Birmingham media each time one is rejected.

If they want it over and done with, maybe they should try doubling the fee and see what happens. Based on the way they are bidding now, that’s unlikely – but it is probably what it would take to get Gray.
