On Thursday afternoon at his pre-Wolverhampton Wanderers press conference, Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett shed some light on the current Paul Caddis situation.

The Scotsman has only featured once competitively so far this season for Blues, a 1-0 defeat to League One Oxford United, and Blues fans have started to question why the saviour isn’t in the match day squads.

Well, after being questioned about his absence from the squad, Rowett revealed that Caddis wasn’t meeting the clubs fitness standards and that the reason why he was missing from the squads is because he isn’t where the management would like him to be fitness wise.

It is understandable to see why he isn’t being picked if he has been slacking in terms of the work other squad members have been doing and if he isn’t doing what is required then I am happy to see the correct actions are being taken in order to get him back to where he should be.

Personally, Caddis will always have a place in the team whilst I am a supporter of the club because of what he has done for us, but he needs to work hard in order to save himself.
