Blues appeal against Bowyer red card

Birmingham City have launched an appeal against Lee Bowyer’s red card that he picked up during the game with Preston on Saturday.

The midfielder saw red after an hour of the game after getting into an altercation with Lee Williamson in the middle of the pitch, Williamson was also shown the red card.

Referee Phil Dowd dismissed the pair for violent conduct after an alleged headbutt during the incident.

That offence carries a three match ban and means that Bowyer would miss the game at Reading and also any play off games that Blues should find themselves involved in

A Football Association regulatory commission will meet on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the matter.
