After spending £6.5million in two days, Birmingham are looking at another Costly player – Honduran striker Carlo Costly.

The 25-year-old, who plays for GKS Bełchatów in Poland and has also been linked with a move to Plymouth Argyle, will undergo a trial at St Andrews, according to Sentanta Sports.

A good idea or a potential Costly mistake? It’s impossible to tell (which is why a trial would make sense) as the Polish league is very different from the Premier League and Honduras do not have the best track record of producing top-level players – whether they be regular internationals, as Costly, is or not.

However, speculation remains that Steve Bruce would have signed fellow Honduran Wilson Palacios if he hadn’t moved to Wigan – speculation that seems to be confirmed by the fact Bruce signed Palacios for Wigan when the player’s loan spell at Birmingham expired.
