Birmingham Opt to Send Shea Back

Brek Shea has returned to Stoke after his three month loan spell came to an end with Birmingham City.

The American made just six appearances for Birmingham and had to settle for a spot on the bench most of the time due to the form of Blues Demarai Gray.

Shea was brought in by Lee Clark to bolster the squad in an area that Rowett has deemed an area over staffed. Instead his desire is to bring in a central attacking midfielder to help relieve Andrew Shinnie’s workload.

Birmingham had not used the Stoke player for two weeks and it would seem he has again failed to kick start his career in England.

Shea was a handy addition to the club in some games, in particular when young Demarai Gray was struggling to deal with Sako away at wolves.

But given the form of the wide players that are already at the club, Gray is playing well, Cotterill has been terrific in royal blue. It is no wonder that Shea couldn’t get in the team.

What probably spelled the end for him was the recovery of Mark Duffy from a long existing calf injury.

Shea seems like a hard worker and a decent player, lets hope he finds a club that is the right fit. He does want to make a go of it in England, unfortunately it wasn’t at Birmingham.
