Birmingham City striker has signed a new two year extension to his current deal at the club. Recent speculation had linked the in-form forward away from the club.

The new deal will see Donaldson potentially stay with the club until June 2018, he joined the team last summer whilst still under the management of Lee Clark.

The timing of the deal is very good, it comes shortly after Demarai Gray had already committed his future to Birmingham and we’re just weeks away from the beginning of the season.

Donaldson is vital for the team here at Blues. Leading the line, most often on his own, he notched up 16 goals last time out and won both the Player’s Player of the Year and Supporter’s Player of the Year for his efforts.

Panos Pavlakis is certainly making headway in turning around the way the club operates. Not only have they been able to resist bids from other clubs for their star players, but they are now convincing those players to stay here and achieve their goals.

Birmingham can now turn their attention to their continued preparation for the upcoming Championship season. Rowett takes his team to kidderminster today.
