Forward Jacques Maghoma could be on his way to St Andrews after being released by Sheffield Wednesday, reports The Star.

Maghoma is a flair player capable of moments of individual skill, a characteristic Rowett is trying to add to the Birmingham team – like we saw in the Fabbrini signing towards the end of last season. Which worked a treat I might add.

Birmingham are in the market for a striker, we know that. And this signals that Rowett may be after a two strikers that have different skill sets – adding to the squad.

It would seem Birmingham still may be operating in the free market as much as possible to save paying transfer fees for ‘the right players’ that may become known to the club.

Maghoma has not enjoyed the best of spells with Wednesday having only found the net twice, although he is a team player and has apparently contributed greatly to their assists.

Rowett knows the player from his days with Burton Albion and may be keen to reunite himself with the player this summer.

The DR Congo man is 27 years old and started as a Tottenham trainee before joining Burton (120 apps/23 goals) and then moving to Wednesday (57 apps/2 goals). He can play attacking midfield centre, wide on either wing and can also play up front.
