With the season drawing to a close this Sunday afternoon at Ashton Gate for Birmingham City, there have been plenty of moments that have caught the attention of fans.

Over the next few days, myself, Luke Turner, Rob Wildey and Saskia Bowes will all nominate our moment of the season and then when everyone has nominated their moment, we will run a vote on our Twitter page, @VitalBirmingham.

Like I said before, there have been plenty of moments, both good and bad, this season for Blues fans to go through and down below is my nomination.

David Davis goal vs. Aston Villa

I personally think that when you ask a Blues fan about this season, other than picking out the sacking of Gary Rowett, Davis’ goal against local rivals Villa has to be the biggest moment of this season.

As suspense was building heading into the game, the atmosphere was electric in St.Andrews and everyone who was there was hoping that Blues could pick up all three points from the game.

The ground was stunned when Gary Gardner put the hosts ahead in the first half with a delightful header, as hard as that is to admit, but the Blues fan rallied and continued to get behind their team.

As the atmosphere grew, so did the team. David Cotterill was brought into the game and he was sent down the line by Jonathan Spector.

Cotterill put a low ball into the box which was cleared by Villa’s goalkeeper. The ball fell to Davis on the edge of the area, he shuffled past one player and fired into the bottom corner to cause absolute scenes at St.Andrews.

For me, this has to be the moment of the season because I don’t think we will see scenes like that at St.Andrews again for a few years…unless we beat them next season that is!
