Birmingham City are interested in signing Nottingham Forest playmaker Henri Lansbury in January, the Birmingham Mail are reporting.

The 26 year-old former Arsenal academy product is out of contract in the summer and Forest owner Kuwaiti Al-Hasawi has blocked any contract negotiations until the expected takeover goes through.

Lansbury has been a key figure at the City Ground since signing back in 2012 and has chipped in with six goals from midfield this term despite Forest’s on the pitch struggles.

A host of Championship clubs are keeping tabs on Lansbury’s situation and Premier League side Burnley may rekindle the interest they showed in him in the summer. However, Blues are firmly in the queue as Gianfranco Zola looks to strengthen his team.
