Veteran goalkeeper Rob Green is being linked with a move to St Andrew’s.
The ex-England Stopper is a free agent after leaving Huddersfield Town this summer, and HITC are reporting that we are “weighing up a move” for the 38-year-old.
Fans on Twitter are not too enthusiastic about us signing Green:
No thank you at 38 should retire. Need someone in late 20’s if both keepers going to be allowed to leave

Green as back up, should be going for Ruddy from wolves seeing as he’s gone down the pecking order

I trust Monk, but is Green really any better than what we have already? Or is it all a wages thing?
— David Ian Turner (@bigdavet71) 19 June 2018
No but reducing the wage bill is a big part of this window

No thank you, may aswell keep Kuzscak if that’s the case, same age and possibly similar wages….would LOVE John Ruddy but can’t see that happening!!

Verdict:
The link is an obvious one to make considering the keeper was Garry Monk’s number one during his season in charge at Leeds. However, there are question marks over his age, and whether he would be an upgrade on David Stockdale.
Much will depend on whether he is, in fact, a replacement for our no.13 or for Tomasz Kuszczak. The Polish keeper has also been told he can leave this summer and if Green were to come in as a number two that wouldn’t be a bad shout.
At this stage though, all we know is that he could be on Monk’s list of transfer targets.
