Watford manager Gianfranco Zola was proud of his side after they destroyed Birmingham City at St Andrews on Saturday.

Watford ended up being 4-0 winners and it was a boyhood Blues fan, Troy Deeney, who grabbed two of the goals that sunk City.

And Blues stood little chance of getting anything from the game once the visitors had got themselves in front in the first half, a depleted side didn’t help.

Marlon King and Nikola Zigic, both missing from the side for two very different reasons, left the home side lacking in fire power.

Not the same story for the visitors though and after they had put four past their hosts, Zola told Sky Sports: ‘It was a very good result, a good performance.

‘I think there were some spells in the game which we were really good, I rate it one of the best performances considering the (injury) difficulties we had.

‘But I do think we’ve played some better games than this.’
