Nikola Zigic played 60 minutes in a friendly game away at Liverpool today to mark a return to the club.

The Serbian target man is considering rejoining Birmingham and it has even been reported that a deal is in place for the striker. There are just work permit complications to iron out before anything is to be signed.

There is a worry that signing a contract before a work permit is granted may result in Blues having to pay wages for a player that can’t play – unlikely obviously.

Birmingham are eager to add to their attacking numbers as the winter months set in. Fixtures are to come thick and fast and Blues lack strength in depth up front.

A deal for the striker has been in the pipeline for weeks now and it should be all wrapped up relatively soon according to some noises coming from the parties.

The game was also the return of Mark Duffy from a calf injury that has kept him out of the Gary Rowett revolution.
