You’re a wizard, Harry

So it’s official. Harry Redknapp is the manager of Birmingham City.

After saving us from the drop into League One, ‘Arry will oversee a summer transformation which will hopefully result in Blues challenging for the play-offs.

Redknapp led Blues to safety through organisation and simplicity. He identified the strengths of his squad and set them up in a way they’d understand.

Yet when Redknapp starts to build his own team and moulds them into his preferred shape and style, don’t expect Blues to sit back and ruggedly defend for their lives like they did against Huddersfield and Bristol City. ‘Arry likes his teams to attack as competently as they can defend.

We’re all set for an interesting summer. Players will come and go as money is invested to improve the team. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Leading Birmingham City into the play-offs will be a difficult task in a division that includes some big clubs. The likes of Aston Villa, Leeds United, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Norwich City – three clubs from the current top six and one other club relegated from the Premier League – all with the same eventual objective.

In Redknapp, Blues have a highly experienced manager who knows what the Championship is about. He knows how to build a team. He also knows how tough next season will be.

Let’s sit back and enjoy the ride. In Harry we trust.
