Brown, Townsend and Webb are all on loan from Birmingham City. How did they get on this weekend?

Reece Brown was in action this weekend for Notts County against Peterborough United on Saturday. The Birmingham City Official website stated, ‘Reece Brown played the full 90 minutes as Notts County ground out a 0-0 draw.’

Reece is continuing to get game time which is showing how much he is progressing as a player. He featured in a couple of Birmingham City friendlies in pre-season which certainly added to the excitement about his future.

‘It was the 18-year-old’s fourth appearance for the Magpies.’

On his ninth appearance, Townsend saw his Lincoln City team lose at the hands of Bristol Rovers.

‘Nick Townsend was involved in successive 3-2 scorelines for Lincoln City… Gary Simpson’s side were on the receiving end of the same scoreline when they welcomed Bristol Rovers.’

5 goals conceded in 2 games is not a great statistic for the young goalkeeper. But he is getting valuable game time. I have high hopes for Nick after watching his progression in recent weeks. Despite good handling, he needs to dominate his box more.

Also in the Vanarama Conference (North), Reece Webb was an unused substitute at Brackey Town registered a 1-0 win at home to Hyde.’

He is still able to play for the development squad, so the lack of games may be due to him being rested. However, it doesn’t seem to benefit either team, if he is warming the bench for most of the season.
