Birmingham have signed striker Chris Wood from West Brom on a month-long loan, with a view to an extension.
The 19-year-old striker goes straight into Blues’ squad for Saturday’s opening game at Pride Park because of injuries to Cameron Jerome, Nikola Zigic and Marlon King.
The duration of Wood’s initial stay at St Andrew’s means he will also be available for the subsequent league matches against Coventry, Middlesbrough and Watford, as well as the club’s two-legged Europa League play-off tie against Portuguese side Nacional.
