Get excited guys and girls, this actually happened.
The club today confirmed the signing of Croatian U21 midfielder Ivan Sunjic from Dinamo Zagreb. With A.C. Milan reportedly after him as well, this is one fantastic coup.
The deal is reported to be in the region of €7m (£6.15m) and includes a 30% sell on fee, obviously they think there’s a huge star in the making and they want to milk this transfer for all that it’s worth. He comes with a pretty high reputation, with one Italian outlet last year comparing him to Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric.
With recent additions Jake Clarke-Salter and Dan Crowley both getting praised for their passing abilities, and Ivan Sunjic having a pass completion rate of 91% in this summer’s European U21 Championships, it’s possible that Birmingham could be one of the more attractive teams to watch this season.
Naturally the Blues faithful were overjoyed that such a high calibre signing was joining their club, the only question was how bonkers were they going to go over it all? Would they be restrained, calm and collected? Or would they go over the top and start setting their aspirations as high as they possibly could?
