Blues acting chairman Peter Pannu has said once again that Birmingham will not be selling off their star players on the cheap after being relegated from the Premier League.

It`s true that finances have to be assessed now Blues have suffered the drop but stars such as Roger Johnson, Scott Dann, Ben Foster and Craig Gardner will not be following the 16 that have gone.

Clubs are already sniffing around trying to tempt the players back into the Premier League, but owner Carson Yeung wants to keep the strongest possible playing squad he can so that they can attempt to get back at the first time of asking.

‘There are no plans for a firesale,’ Pannu told the Birmingham Mail.

‘We know we need a strong squad in the Championship and our best players are important to us.

‘We cannot pretend that relegation won’t be very difficult for us financially, as it would be for any club.

‘It has put a big burden on Carson Yeung but our supporters need to know that he remains committed and is determined that we come straight back up.’
