Xuandong Ren appears to have won his internal battle against Darren Dein.

Club Director Ren was the subject of a well documented falling out with Dein, a scout working for the parent company on an advisory basis.

Daniel Ivery, writing on his website almajir.net said – ‘as I understand it Dein no longer has any remit with Birmingham Sports Holdings. My understanding was that Dein`s contract with BSH was very strong and I suspect it will take careful negotiations and/or a pay-off to completely end the deal.’

Strong rumours surfaced this week that Steve Cotterill was set to be sacked from his role as first team manager with the club lingering precariously in the bottom three.

However, as confirmed on this very website earlier this week, Ren offered his support to the manager who, for the time being, remains in charge.

Evidently, Ren still has an influence at the club.

almajir.net also spoke of his understanding that Jeff Vetere, the chief scout heavily involved in the summer transfers, has been placed on gardening leave.
