WSL Expanding to 10 Teams

Woman’s league is expanding to have 10 teams in their top division

For the next two seasons 2 teams will be promoted from the Woman’s Super League 2 and only 1 relegated from WSL 1.

The aim of the change in the rules is to expand the top league to incorporate 10 teams into its calender season.

The WSL was founded in 2011 and has so far only had 8 teams fight it out in their top league. Of Which Birmingham Ladies went very close last year.

Liverpool are the current champion’s whilst their neighbors Everton are the first team to suffer relegation from WSL 1.

The changes come into effect for the 14/15 season and the 15/16 season.

Birmingham Ladies have a relatively small budget, just like the men’s team, and will be hoping to hold onto their key players in order to challenge for the title again.
