Wray’s Letter is Helpless

Jeremy Wray, the head of an interested party, has published an open letter on the Often Partisan website addressing the fans of the club.

In summary it simply says that his consortium have the money to move the club forward and that they have made an offer twice for the club. Only to hear nothing back.

Should we be excited? well quite simply no.

I have nothing against Wray and indeed would be all for him and his group coming into the club to help reshape the way things are being ran.

Fortunately I have contacts at other clubs which include Swindon Town; who were hugely impressed with his business contacts and style of governance. He is a very clear and communicative person, especially with the fans.

But this letter changes nothing and the benefits from it will be very, very small indeed. In fact it is largely irrelevant to address the fans to tell us something we already know.

It seems like everyone is interested in getting some of their spot light time in a bid to force the other party to act the way they would like them to. This fails to realise that actions such as these motivate the other party to do the opposite.

Just as before BIHL have acted out, suspending share trading and categorically denying the club is up for sale. When someone does not want something, they usually get rid of it. Obviously this isn’t the current status quo.

If this whole saga has taught us anything is that the club will only be sold when BIHL say so. They have reshaped to avoid Football League intervention and they will continue to hold the club as they see fit.

I would encourage Mr Wray and indeed anyone at BIHL to engage with us when they have some clear and concise information as to the ongoings regarding anything that effects the value and quality of BCFC.

BIHL Directors especially need to present the clubs fans with an action plan if they are intent on holding the club. It is simply not good enough to ‘survive’ as a club. There must be ambition to do something, whether that be invest in youth and the community or to find investment elsewhere for first team players.

Right now Birmingham City are on an unbeaten run, they are finally pulling the fans back into the ground and behind the team. The issue of BIHL is not only toxic but distracting. Yes we want it resolved but not at the club’s expense.

Put up, or shut up. And shouting about trying to buy the club is not putting up, BIHL have made it clear before, that is not something they will respond to.
