Since Gianfranco Zola has come into Birmingham City, the club have constantly been linked with a whole host of youngsters from his former club Chelsea who are reportedly ready to go out on loan.

As always, it got me thinking, which players might he be considering. For all we know, there could be absolutely no links with Chelsea at all and they could all have been a wind up.

Last week we were linked with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, a move I am told was never even on the cards, but it was nice to see us linked with a name like his right? Of course it was!

But in all seriousness, there is one player who I think could potentially fit the bill for Zola and Blues.

That Chelsea youngster is Charly Musonda. I know what everyone is thinking, who the bloody hell is he!?

Well the 20-year-old Belgian is a left winger who can also play as an attacking midfielder if required. He has recently been recalled from a loan spell with La Liga side Real Betis.

Whilst he was there, Musonda only made eight appearances, making one assist in the process and with him being recalled early, it could show that Antonio Conte is looking to loan him out somewhere else to get him more game time.

Blues are certainly in the market for another left winger after they failed in their bid to sign Crystal Palaces’ Bakary Sako last week and Musonda could be the guy who potentially becomes one of Blues’ main targets if Zola is tuned into him coming back to the Premier League side earlier than expected.

Although he lacks match experience in England, a loan into the Championship could be just what kid needs and even though Blues have Viv Solomon-Otabor who can play in that position, I believe that Musonda would be a much better option for us to have.

Perhaps this is a deal that will never happen but with Blues reportedly being in the market for a player of his ilk, you never know what might happen, especially with it being just the early stages of the January transfer window.

Blues fans, would you like to see the club make a move for the young Chelsea winger? Do you think Charly Musonda would be a good addition to the club? Let us know in the comment section down below!

  • We are hearing of a few players being called back from loans and of course this will alert all clubs to the possibilities. Are they being recalled because they have made sufficient impact to be closer to the first team, or is it a case of the player not getting the game time they wanted in order to develop. 8 games is of no use to a 20 year old out on loan so it may well be a case of someoen else wanting him and offering more game time. Ake has been recalled from Bournemouth but I believe this one is because he has done well and is now likely to get some game time, or at least be part of the first team squad at Chelsea.
Izzy Brown was called back from Rotherham early and although linked with the Blues he was already on his way to Huddersfield.
I guess one of these bits of speculation will come to fruition but we will just have to wait and see.

  • Looks a good player . And looks like a reasonable goalscorer which is what we need …any news on khrin and Gardner anybody …

  • DV- Just a matter of time before we get an answer on Krhin we are led to believe. As for Gardner, it could take days or it could go all the way to the wire

  • Musonda’ is a good player but a bit lightweight for the championship. he goes down more times than Fabbrini’ Which we all find frustrating well I do anyway.
