“Work in progress”: Best yet to come according to Blues journalist following late draw v Rotherham

|

It’s probably the right message to be saying at this stage of the season.

Although you do have to wonder just how long that rhetoric will be allowed to stick around before the fans start looking for more when it comes to results. Blues managed to escape with a draw yesterday against Rotherham in a game where the main talking points happened inside the last ten minutes.

It leaves Birmingham City undefeated after three games, which is a good starting point for the start of the season, and as Richard Wilford put it, there’s still a little bit of work that needs to be done before the team can really kick on:

Blues will finish _____ than last season?

Higher

Lower

Sure we’ve seen some improvement, not conceding in open play in the first three league games, but with only one goal scored that way as well, there’s still plenty to do if we want to take a step forward this season. Hopefully that can come sooner rather than later, otherwise we’re not going to pick up any momentum any time soon.

What about you? What have you made to our start to the season?

  • Brian Taylor says:

Hate to say it but Hogan’s flourish earlier last season did not warrant a 4 year “comfort zone” contract. All the hype ended in a nondescript performance when he should have been tearing the opposition apart. We came within a whisper of defeat at home against a lower graded team and we are celebrating not losing! Goals win games and I can’t see where they will come from if we don’t recruit another striker
