Will This Loanee Get Another Chance With Birmingham?

Sam Gallagher has been ever present under three different managers this season, but I think it`s fair to say he hasn`t quite lived up to expectations.

The Southampton striker came to the club with a good reputation in the summer. He had performed well on loan at a Blackburn Rovers side that were relegated, and it was hoped he could kick on once more with the Blues. Things haven`t quite worked out like that though.

Our current no.18 had a good six week spell between mid December and late January when he scored five goals in seven league matches, but for the rest of his time with us he has found goals hard to come by.

Sam has a lot of pace, and you can see his intelligence on the ball, but at 22 years of age, he needs to be showing a bit more. Having played 31 matches, and started 23 of those, he can`t argue he hasn`t been give his chance.

Some of the problems stem from the fact he is playing in a struggling team, and there is some truth in that, but I would like to see whether he can now prove himself more under the new manager.

Whether Garry Monk will offer him another extended run in the first team before his loan spell ends, it remains to be seen. The forward missed out on the Hull win due to a calf problem, but Lukas Jutkiewicz and Che Adams capitalised on his absence from the squad.

The pair struck up a good partnership in the run-in last season, and I doubt the gaffer will look to change it this time around either if they continue to perform like they did against the Tigers.

I`m sure he`ll get some starts before the end of the season with the number of games coming out, but will Sam be a regular? Let me know in the poll.
