News has broken that Championship side Derby County have sacked their Head Coach Paul Clement after just eight months in charge.

Blues fans all over the place will now be sat in a tense position wondering whether the Rams will make a move for their former player and current Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett.

Over the past 15 months, Rowett has completely transformed the state of the Blues and he has turned them into a potential play-off team and that is sure to be an attraction for a team like Derby.

Blues have taken four points of the Rams this season and after a recent slump which has seen them win just once in eight league games, Clement has been given his marching orders.

His departure comes just hours after Rotherham United announced that Neil Redfearn has also been relieved of his duties at the relegation threatened side and I think there could be another managerial merry-go-round about to happen across the Sky Bet leagues as a whole.

It was rumoured yesterday that Clement is already in line for another job which might have been an early indication to Derby fans that he was on his way out of the club, but less of the worry about them!

Despite Rowett recently signing a new contract and committing to the club for the foreseeable future, I wouldn’t rule out the big spending Championship side making a move for the Blues boss.

However, as we saw last month, money doesn’t always buy you success and Rowett might look at that and think, actually, I have something really good going on with Blues so why would I want to leave?

Derby look set to bottle it once again in terms of the play-off’s and if that meant that Blues had an increased chance of taking their place then I wouldn’t be complaining.

I personally don’t think that Rowett would leave the club because of the philosophy that his has implemented on the players and if he did move across the Midlands to County then I think it would only be classed as a sideways step rather than a step forward.

Some fans may be unaware but Rowett lives in the Derby area which could be a draw for him if they did make advances for his services but I have every faith in acting director, Panos Pavlakis, and I believe we will still have Rowett for a very long time.
